Layering Kicks!

Hey guys, today’s tip is about layering your kick drums.

Some engineers or even producers frown upon the idea of layering kicks, but that’s usually because most entry lever producers just layer kick on top of kick and just leave it at that. Normally when I layer kicks I mainly have a good reason to do so, example. I may like the top end of one kick, and the bottom on another kick, this is where using your hi pass and lo pass filters can come in really handy. This weeks “Plug-In of The Week” is a fun one! It’s by a company called Cableguys and the plugin is named Halftime. For you producers who are looking to flip a simple melody or loop and make something A bit more interesting. This plugin allows you to slow down your melodies, great for trap Beats, you can also mix your original signal and your half time signal which can create some Really interesting melody ideas. You can also use this plugin to thicken up or fatten up your Snares, claps and kicks. Go to cableguys.com to get a full review cost of the plugin is like $10 usd which is about $13 CAD.
